Janny Wurts has been a professional author and freelance illustrator since graduation from college. Best known for her Wars of Light and Shadow series, and also co-author of the Empire series with Raymond E. Feist, she has made a career of using words and paint to tell stories that push the envelope and explore ideas outside of the world we know. Her latest release, Initiate's Trial, is published by HarperCollins Voyager, available in English worldwide. She has eighteen novels to her credit and thirty published short stories, with works translated into sixteen languages. Her Cycle of Fire trilogy beginning with Stormwarden is available from Audible with David Thorpe narrating.

Her artwork appears on her own books and also has been published as book covers, puzzles, note cards, coffee cups and games. Exhibitions have included NASA's 25th Anniversary show at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Hayden Planetarium in NY, and a work currently hangs in the illustration wing of the Delaware Art Museum.

Piper for DragonCon's parade, Janny Wurts has been the Amateur Grade I Champion Supreme for the state of Florida five times, and currently plays with the City of Sarasota Pipe Band, first in their grade for the Florida branch of the EUSPBA for the second consecutive year.
