Kathryn Hinds

Kathryn Hinds has written more than fifty books for children and young adults, including the six-book series Fantastic Creatures, published by Cavendish Square in summer 2013. This year has also seen the release of Kathryn’s poetry collection Candle, Thread, and Flute by Luna Station Press, and Kathryn has recently had short stories published in Luna Station Quarterly and the anthology Dreams of Steam IV: Gizmos.

Much of Kathryn’s writing for young people has been focused on social history, with particular interests in belief systems, the lives of everyday people, and the roles of women. She has written two books on the ancient Celts and two on the Vikings, and has covered societies as diverse as New Kingdom Egypt, the Scythians and Sarmatians, and Elizabethan England.

Kathryn is also a novelist, lyricist, and award-winning poet, and co-author of a mythology book, Magic of the Celtic Gods and Goddesses. Her fiction includes steampunk, alternate history, and epic fantasy for both adults and young adults. In addition to writing, Kathryn teaches composition and early British literature at the University of North Georgia and has worked for more than twenty years as a freelance editor, primarily of YA novels, SFF, and historical fiction.
