MMORPG

Director: Kevin Stallard

DC*MMO is a bit shorter than writing "The MMORPG Track at Dragon*Con" and much shorter than "The Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games Track at Dragon*Con". Whatever you choose to call us, we concentrate on the types of games that you play online with several thousand of your closest friends. We cover a wide range of games from the early days of MMO gaming and games such as Meridian 59 and EverQuest to the most current releases. We also discuss the finer points of the "meta game" such as guild management, gold farming, the economics of online gaming, and how to make the most out of your time online with add-ons and other strategies.

In addition to all of these relative serious topics, we also talk about the lighter side of MMO gaming. The culture of online gaming has spawned hit web series such as The Guild, as well as cinematic and artistic achievements in the world of Machinima, or animated films which use characters and graphics from popular games such as World of Warcraft or Star Wars: The Old Republic.

No matter what fandom you call home, chances are that there is an MMORPG based on it. Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Lord of the Rings, Asian Culture , Post-Apocalyptic, Stargate, Game of Thrones, and even "Pen and Paper" classics like Dungeons and Dragons and Vampire: The Masquerade all have MMORPGs dedicated to them. We start off each year with a live show where the snark flies freely and we're always interested in feedback or questions from our listeners.
