Keeping in mind that cats are naturally curious, housecat owners should be extra vigilant about keeping their pets indoors. There may come a time, however, when your beloved cat escapes, and will need help finding its way home.
An obvious choice for identification is a collar with id tag. This works well, as long as the collar remains intact. Another option is microchipping; this is great technology, but only works if the cat is brought to a scanner, and you are careful to keep your contact information up to date.
When deciding how best to protect your pet, consider the security of your home, how curious your cat is about the great outdoors, the animal’s age, and whether local facilities offer microchip scanning.
