There’s no guarantee that any particular kitten will morph into the calm adult cat of your dreams, but there are strategies to make that outcome more likely. For example, you could go down the purebred route, and pick a kitten from a breed known to be docile, such as a Persian or a Ragdoll.
Or if you want a mixed breed kitten, spend some time with some kittens and observe their behavior. A shy, fearful, or aggressive kitten, one that hisses or pulls away, may not adapt easily to new surroundings. A rambunctious kitten may be too energetic for your lifestyle.
Look for a kitten that’s inquisitive, playful, alert and healthy, but also full of trust and confidence. This little one will likely grow up to be a calm adult.
