Inside and out, pets are prime targets for parasites. Fleas, ticks, mites and lice can infect your pet’s skin and hair, while roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, and heartworms are common internal invaders. They’re bad news for pets - and humans, too, since many parasites are transmissible. Mike Paul, Executive Director of the Companion Animal Parasite Council, says the key to their control is prevention: “what we want to do is to get folks to use year-round flea and tick control products, year-round parasite control products, and year-round heartworm products, so that we can prevent these diseases in dogs and cats and in kids.”
