Is your cat making chopped salad out of your potted plants? Fear not – there is a way for cats and house plants to peacefully co-exist.

If you’ve ever peeled an orange within a five-foot radius of fluffy, you may have noticed that she is not a fan - cats and citrus don’t get along. If you place citrus peels on the soil of your house plants, the scent alone will prompt kitty to shoo. You can even try spraying a pet-safe, citrus-scented room freshener around your cat’s favorite “scratching-chair.”

Citrus peels can also prevent the neighbor’s cat from making a litter box out of your outdoor garden. But be aware that citrus peels will break down into the soil, so you’ll need to replace them from time to time.
