   What role do X-Rays, MRI’s and Ultrasounds play in pet healthcare?Anthony Fischetti, a Radiologist with the Animal Medical Center in New York City, says X-Rays and MRI’s aren’t just for humans anymore! Fischetti says, “there are pets that are getting the exact same treatments that we would in a hospital with the advent of all of the digital radiography, ultrasound, CT’s and MRI’s.” Chest x-rays are commonly used to diagnose heart and lung problems. Ultrasound? Diseases of the heart, liver, or spleen. Neurological diseases such as back pain might call for an MRI, and a musculoskeletal disease might prompt your veterinarian to request a CT scan. Because pets don’t understand the need to remain still during radiology, sedation is often required.
