October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Nearly half of all domestic abuse victims delay leaving because they don’t want
to leave their pet behind, yet as few as 10% of domestic violence shelters accept pets.
The Purple Leash Project is working to change that.

Introducing Deuce: Your National Dog Show Senior Correspondent

It’s that time of year again. The National Dog Show Presented by Purina is almost here and, as usual, we couldn’t be more excited! But this year, we’re doing something a little different. We’re bringing in an expert to take over our Twitter feed to bring you behind-the-scenes content and give you an inside look at The Dog Show. And who better to do that than someone who knows the competition inside and out? Allow us to introduce our Senior Correspondent, Deuce!

Deuce 1

Deuce is a decorated Australian Shepherd with seven all-breed Best-in-Show titles and over 50 Herding Group  wins under her collar, including a Group win at The National Dog Show in 2008. As a former competitor, she knows this show, and she’ll be bringing that insider’s perspective and expertise to @Purina’s Twitter account Thanksgiving Day.

Deuce 2

At 11 years old, Deuce’s competition days are behind her, so she’s enjoying her senior years by staying active and healthy. And even though she’s happily retired, her legacy isn’t over. Her daughter Ember will be competing in the show this year. If Ember wants to walk in her mother’s paw prints, she’ll have to claim the top spot among Australian Shepherds.  Then, she’ll be in the Group ring for a chance to win it all! If she’s anything like her mom, we’ll be betting for her.

Veteran show-dog champion, proud mom, and senior correspondent. Deuce is bringing it all to the blue carpet at 12 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Be sure to follow Purina on Twitter for the exclusive behind-the-scenes content, expert commentary, and insider knowledge from Deuce. But most of all, get excited. The National Dog Show is almost here.
