Karie Johnson, DVM

Dr. Karie Johnson received her DVM in May 2019 from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. It was during her undergraduate years at U of I working with Dr. Swanson in his nutrition lab that she found a love for companion animal nutrition that never faded. After receiving her DVM, she went into small animal general practice and quickly started her own mobile veterinary practice in January 2020.

Her focus in medicine shifted with her mobile practice to preventative care, end of life care, quality of life, nutrition, and behavior. These core interests were driven to help her continue to enhance and maintain the bond between pets and their people. She is published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Association for her article “Nutrition and Nutraceuticals in the changing management of osteoarthritis for dogs and cats”. Dr. Karie joined Purina in 2023 and continues to do mobile veterinary work.
