My kitties love this flavor! I wish I could get it in grocery store though.
Normally my cat will eat a little at a time. When I give him this he eats it all in one sitting. Love that it is natural without fillers.
My cat loves the duck and sweet potatoes and chicken and sweet potatoes canned food (have not tried the others yet). I didn't even realize that a cat would like sweet potatoes!
The ingredient list is free of many things I am avoiding for my cat and that is great to see in a brand available in grocery stores! However, fish is not identified. I have no idea what kind of fish. Certain fishes like ocean white fish have high contamination levels. Purina is not forthcoming on its actual sourcing or nutrient profile. I cannot recommend any brand when the reps cannot tell me what the typical analysis values are. It is important to know what percentage of calories is respectively provided from protein, fat and carbohydrates. It is also important for older cats and those with medical issues such as CKD to know the percentages for phosphorous and sodium on a dry matter basis.
Based on the ingredient list alone, this food is far better than average compared to other grocery sold brands. However, compared to many high-end brands who source meats from free-range animals, this is below par. Hence, my "average" rating. Also, it appears the can has lining typical of the BPA-containing ones. I would prefer it to be BPA-free.
My cat liked it okay. Because she has kidney disease, I added phosphorous binder to it. I will not be buying it again for her until the actual nutritional values are sent to me.
In March 2018 I contacted Beyond regarding cans of Duck & Sweet Potato that had a foul odor and black jelly like substance. They offered coupons and a refund but I had to push them to request that the cans be tested to make sure they are even safe for cats to eat. After promises that they'd call me with results, I haven't heard back from them in over 3 months and it is now September 30th. I am very disappointed and have no choice but to think that Beyond does not care. Even though it was only this flavor that I encountered the problem with, I have to say that I wouldn't recommend any Beyond products at this moment. Their prices are affordable, for me anyway, but I will discontinue feeding my cat any of their foods until they can prove that it is safe for all cats to consume.
