Feeding Guidelines

FEEDING KITTENS

Kittens generally nibble solid foods at 3 - 4 weeks of age. Keep moistened Purina Kitten Chow Nurture available to these kittens at all times. Just add one part liquid to three parts Purina Kitten Chow Nurture, changing frequently to ensure freshness. After weaning, at 6 - 8 weeks of age, kittens will normally eat dry or moistened food at will. Start a self-feeding program, leaving food in dish at all times. Feeding amounts should be adjusted as necessary to help your kitten maintain an ideal body condition. Because kittens continue to develop throughout their first year, it's important that they get the extra nutrition of Purina Kitten Chow Nurture for a full 12 months. After one year of age, transition to the Purina Cat Chow formula that’s right for your cat.

FEEDING FOR REPRODUCTION

Purina Kitten Chow Nurture provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female's good body condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation.

FEEDING TIP

Changes in your cat’s diet should be made gradually to allow your cat to become accustomed to a new food. Substitute small amounts of the new food for the old food, gradually increasing the amount of the new food while decreasing the old food, over a period of 7 - 10 days. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

Provide adequate fresh water in a clean bowl daily.

For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.

Recommended Daily Feeding Amounts using a standard 8 oz measuring cup.

Zelda (Griselda) loves to eat it and I love knowing that she is eating healthy and growing strong without spending a whole lot.

Ralph loved this when he was a baby-kitty!

We used this product in the past, and now have a healthy adult cat! Our cat, Ralph, has moved up to the adult healthy food, but occasionally has tummy troubles so we sometimes use the gentle formula. Kitten chow nurture is our go-to brand of cat food when we rescue or have a need to feed younger cats! I think our neighbor's cat has kittens on our property, and they will definitely be getting Kitten Chow when they are weaned (unless they decide to move back home..lol) Thanks, Purina!

great product

I got me a new kitten, the first kitten I ever had. I have always got cats after they were grown. When I got my kitten I fed him my cat food I had left over from my last cat. after I ran out of that food a lady at the store told me I needed to feed my kitten kitten food. so I got a bag of purina kitten chow, and was I supprised at the difference the food made to my kitten. He was like a new kitten after having kitten food.

Never Fails To Satisfy The kitty Young

I have fed innumerable kittens this type of food and I have never seen a cat reject this or become obsessed with it. The food seems to have a proper blend of nutrients as well as a great taste.

my kitten loves it

I started my kitten on an expensive kitten food. Then I read the ingredients and compared it with Purina. I was amazed to see practically the same ingredients (theirs did not have as much calcium) but at a very reasonable price. My kitten loves the food and I love seeing her grow healthy and strong. THANKS PURINA.

Kittens dropped at my barn

Last spring, two litters of kittens were dropped at my barn. I had nine kittens that I now had to be a mother to! I immediately bought Kitten Chow for the group. I was able to soften the food with formula for the smaller kittens and the older ones were able to eat the food right away. The kittens have grown to beautiful cats and will be transitioning to Cat Chow!
