I have a 14year old Sphynx cat that has had chronic diarrhea for 1 year! She was being treated with Diarsanyl to stop the diarrhea which made her vomit it up after being on it for 6 months. Out of desperation I bought Imodium and administered it twice a day. Still she didn't have formed stools. My cat had diarrhea so bad at times she bleed and refused to use the cat box. We had to stack towels and rugs around her cat box because some days that is all she would use. On 19 Aug my Vet prescribed Purina EN and by 24 Aug my cat had her first formed stool. It's only been 10 days since she started this diet. I give her 1/2 can wet Purina EN in the morning and afternoon and evening she eats about 1/2 cup dry Purina En. She has put on maybe a pound(she feels heavier) and she hasn't had a bit of diarrhea or vomiting. The food is well worth the "Prescription Price" and even if it's not a "Premium Type Food", it works wonderful for cats with Irritable Bowel Diseases'
My 12-year-old cat has had IBD for a year and we've had him on a dozen different foods; every few days he developed a sensitivity to whatever we fed him (and we fed him the best on the market). This is the first food that he has eaten even during a bout with the illness, and he has maintained stability with it. I'm thrilled that the ER vet sent us home with it.
After several veterinarian visits, stool samples, and medication to treat Sam for diarrhea he still continued to have bouts with diarrhea. His last incident put him in the hospital. His coat was dull. He was not eating and was drinking very little. He lost some weight and was very lethargic. After several types of gastrointestinal test which, shockingly, came back with normal results and ruling out cancer, my veterinarian recommended putting Sam on Purina EN. He started eating with no transition problems from his prior food and NO MORE DIARRHEA!!! He is now running around the house being his playful happy self!!! Thank you Purina ♥♡♥♡ [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
My Siamese was diagnosed with sensitive stomach and the vet put him on En wet and dry food. He loves it and has gained weight, 2# in 2 months and the vet wants me to cut down on his food, but he isn't having any part of that. I recommend this food ...
I have been having different issues with both of my 13 yr old cats. One has been on Hills ID for sensitive tummys for quite a while now as she has been having a lot of mushy stool, also I have had to clean her bottom as she was always very messy. I tried three other store bought brands of food, they seemed to help her problem a little but not enough. My other cat then decided that she was having nothing to do with any of the other foods at all,, I could only get her to eat treats !!! Anyway, I finally spoke to the vet and he got me to try the Purina EN , well all I can say is that this stuff is magic, they have both been gobbling it up and the soft stool issue is completely resolved, the other thing is that there was no easing into this food in case of upset, so thank you for a brilliant product, I just wish I had found it sooner !!!
I've been feeding my two cats his dry food for about 6 months. At first I was skeptical of this expensive food would be worth the price. It is! My 15 year old cat use to have very coarse hair, be prone to hair balls and hadn't had any hair on his lower abdomen for years because of excessive grooming. His hair is now so soft, he hasn't had nearly as many haiballs and the hair has grown back on his abdomen. It has also helped my 13 year old cat with his loose stools. A+ for this food. I am very happy with the results.
I agree with one of the former comments that having the cat throw up immediately after eating was part of his make up. Thank goodness the vet in Dennis,MA fed him EN when we boarded him. I thought these were "special " treats for him and I saved a handful in a bag to bring back to the vet. I bought a bag (very expensive) from the vet but he has been better every since.
My cat was very sick and losing weight. The Vet tried everything. We even thought it might be lymphoma and I had a surgery done with biopsies to have it checked out. The cat was getting very weak and as a last resort the Vet tried the EN formula. It saved him. He is as active now as he has ever been and gained all his weight back.
The first food we offer to our GI upset patients (be it CAT or DOG). Fantastic and edible for those upset tummies. Good bye soft stools and diarrhea!
Our 5 and 12 year old LOVE this. Initially started feeding this on the advice of our vet when the 12 year old started having some soft/mushy stool. Miss Priss and Caesar give it two paws up!
Chronic pukers do great on this diet. Also love it for chronic diarrhea.
EN worked well for our clinic cats that exhibited chronic vomiting. We now recommend it to all our clients that deal with vomiting cats, and I use it with my own cats at home.
