Several Purina® brands have special formulas designed for senior dogs.
Many dogs are still very fit and active at seven years of age and show few external signs that they are aging. However, internally, changes are beginning to occur. Their metabolic rate is decreasing and their activity level may be decreasing as well. Senior dogs also tend to have a decrease in lean body mass, an increase in fat mass, and possible weight gain. Thus, most senior dogs need fewer calories to maintain an ideal body condition. However, they still require complete and balanced nutrition.
