Two New Breeds Debut at the 146th Westminster Dog Show

Exciting news! The Mudi and the Russian Toy are now officially recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC), making them eligible to compete at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show presented by Purina Pro Plan. Meet these unique dogs and see what makes them breeds to watch.

Mudi

The Mudi (pronounced “moodie”) is a medium-sized Hungarian Herding dog that shines when he’s doing what he does best – herding cattle and sheep. And though he is most at home on the range, he is an energetic and enthusiastic athlete who also excels at agility, obedience, flyball and other dog sports. The Mudi will compete in the Herding Group.

Russian Toy

The Russian Toy is a tiny dog with a larger-than-life personality. Treasured by the Russian aristocracy in the 18th century, this lively, loving companion dog comes in two varieties: the Smooth Coat and the Long Coat. They are one of the smallest dog breeds in the world, making them a natural fit for the Toy Group.
