Purina Pro Plan and Purina ONE are both science-based pet food brands offering super premium nutrition. Pro Plan offers a broader range of formulas—more than 160 formulas, compared to 50-plus formulas for Purina ONE. The extensive array of Pro Plan formulas provides more specific breed, size, and special need choices. For example, while Purina ONE offers two Large Breed dry dog formulas, Purina Pro Plan offers eight Large Breed dry dog food formulas, including Puppy, Adult 7+ Bright Mind, Adult Weight Management, and Sensitive Skin & Stomach options. Pro Plan dry dog food & dry cat food formulas typically feature higher levels of key nutrients, such as antioxidants, vitamins, glucosamine, and fatty acids. Additionally, a larger number of Pro Plan dry formulas are fortified with live probiotics for digestive and immune health. Pro Plan formulas are premium-priced compared to Purina ONE but typically require lower feeding amounts. Lastly, Pro Plan is exclusively sold at pet specialty retailers and online, whereas Purina ONE is broadly distributed across all retail channels.
